| Chloe and Maggie You may have read Chloe's story in the December issue of Camelid Quarterly. For those who haven't.... Chloe came to our farm from a nearby farm with a severe case of foot rot, complicated by the invasion of a flesh-eating (necrotizing) bacteria. |
| We put Chloe into her own private field and began treatments under the instruction of our vet. Chloe's condition was quite bad, but since she was pregnant, we were determined to keep her going at least until she could deliver her cria. After a month or so, Chloe safely delivered a beautiful little cria named Maggie. Since Chloe was not able to care for Maggie, we attempted to bond Maggie with one of our dams, Rose. After some initial understandable confusion, fortunately sweet Rose took Maggie in and generously began raising Maggie as her own, along with her cria, Brio. After months of treating Chloe, she seems to have finally recovered. Her feet witll never be like they were before this problem, but she is able to get around fine and seems very happy and healthy. Little Maggie has grown into a beautiful young weanling female who has very nice crimpy fleece and a wonderful sweet temperament. See Maggie at alpacas for sale... |
